DLT was born in Buxton, Derbyshire, he spent his early life in Manchester where he developed an interest in both the music business and photography.

In 1964, he talked his way into a job on Radio Caroline South after doing some DJ work round the Manchester clubs. He spent two years on the ship before moving to Caroline’s north ship off the Isle of Man. When pirate ships became illegal, Dave returned to Manchester where he was given the job of presenting the BBC lunch time radio show ‘Pop North’.

The Hairy Monster - as he became affectionately known - joined BBC Radio One just after it opened in 1967. Throughout his career with the BBC Dave presented just about every major show on the network including the Breakfast Shows, and up to his departure in August 1993, the extremely popular Saturday and Sunday morning shows which served 15 million listeners !!. He also presented the radio programme, ‘A Jolly Good Show’ for The BBC World Service for 20 years.

In the mid 70’s Dave enjoyed drag racing at Santa Pod. His first car was an Escort, ‘Tender Trap’ which did 0-60 in 2 seconds, by the late 70’s he was racing a full blown top fuel dragster called ‘The Needle’, this car covered the quarter mile in 6.6 seconds, with a terminal speed of 220 miles per hour.

Television work has included ‘The Golden Oldie Picture Show’, ‘Top Of The Pops’, ‘Photo Assignment Week’, ‘The British Rock and Pop Awards’, ‘Saturday Night Affair’, ‘Through the keyhole’,’Granada men & motors top 10 auto shows’ plus numerous appearances on popular game shows such as ‘Blankety Blank’, ‘Celebrity Squares’, What’s My Line’,‘Give Us A Clue’ and ‘Shooting Stars’

In 1993 Dave started a new career stage with commercial radio, he is currently working on programme ideas for an American radio network,as well as presenting Saturday and Sunday morning shows for the “Magic” network in the North.

Photography is now an important part of Dave's life and much of his time is taken in photographing his models and creating his finished artworks. Each image takes a considerable time to prepare and he is adament that his editions remain small and scarce.
